Herbert Menzel (19. ledna 1921, Karlovy Vary - 21. ledna 1987, New York) byl americký sociolog pocházející z Československa.

Život

Herbert Menzel se narodil roku 1921 v Karlových Varech v tehdejším Československu, avšak roku 1939 odešel do Spojených států amerických. Roku 1947 vystudoval Wisconsinskou univerzitu a o dvanáct let později zde získal i doktorský titul. Poté vyučoval na Carleton College a Columbia College, roku 1965 však začal působit jako profesor sociologie na New York University. Zemřel roku 1987 ve věku 66 let na infarkt ve svém domě na Manhattanu.

Menzel měl z prvního manželství dvě dcery, Lylu a Miriam. Jeho druhá manželka June Nash byla profesorkou antropologie na City University of New York^[1]
