Zde vystudoval pouze základní školu a poté nastoupil do práce. Francis L. Miksa [online]. Austin, USA [cit. 2019-05-15]. V roce 1991, na konferenci COLIS ve Finsku, představil svůj článek Library and Information Science: Two Paradigms. Francis L. Miksa [online]. Austin, USA [cit. 2019-05-15]. Ve svém nejvíce citovaném článku, The DDC, the Universe of Knowledge, and the Post-Modern Library z roku 1998<ref>Dr. Francis L. Miksa [online]. Austin, USA [cit. 2019-05-15]. Dostupné z: https://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~miksa/index.html</ref>, popisuje vývoj v teorii knihovní klasifikace v 20. století. Poukazuje na nedostatek kritického přístupů u přispěvatelů této teorie. A popisuje rostoucí propojení teorie klasifikace a DDC (Deweyův desetinný systém).

Dr. Francis Louis Miksa (24. záři 1939 v Auroře, Illinois, USA - 20. března 2019 v Mississippi, USA) byl významný americkým profesorem, autorem a výzkumníkem. Vystudoval knihovnictví na University of Chicago Graduate Library School, z níž v roce 1974 graduoval s titulem Ph.D.

Zde vystudoval pouze základní školu a poté nastoupil do práce.

Společně měli deset dětí, tři syny a sedm dcer. Jeho bratry byli Daniel Miksa a Ronald Miksa. Jeho sestrami byly Francis Ann Adams a Sandra Rylatt, zbytek jmen není znám.[5] Byl ženatý s Mary Spohrer Miksovou, se kterou měl čtyři děti, předčasně zesnulého syna Francise Louis Miksu III, syna Joela Miksu a dcery Elizabeth Miksovou and Shawne Miksovou.

Studium

V roce 1984 přešel na Graduate School of Library and Information Science na The University of Texas at Austin, která byla v roce 2002 přejmenována na School of Information.

V roce 1991, na konferenci COLIS ve Finsku, představil svůj článek Library and Information Science: Two Paradigms.

Ve svém nejvíce citovaném článku, The DDC, the Universe of Knowledge, and the Post-Modern Library z roku 1998[11], popisuje vývoj v teorii knihovní klasifikace v 20. století. Poukazuje na nedostatek kritického přístupů u přispěvatelů této teorie. A popisuje rostoucí propojení teorie klasifikace a DDC (Deweyův desetinný systém).
