• Byl hlavním vyšetřovatelem (PI) pro projekt  Results Framework Projectfinancovaný NSF (2008-2011) a organizoval  Information Seeking Support System Workshopa pomocí NSF v červnu 2008.

• PI pro společný projekt financovaný pomocí National Cancer Institute, který vyvíjel pokyny použitelnosti pro osobní zdravotní záznamy (PHRs)a také PI pro  NSF projekt který vyšetřoval účinnost Second Life for preserving ephemeral information.

• Vedl vývoj uložiště digitálních videí, The Open Video Project(1999-součastnost) a byl PI pro NSF-financovaný projekt, vývoj a testování rozhraní pro video vyhledávání a prohlížení (Agile Views for video browsing: Advanced surrogates, control mechanisms, and usability).

• PI pro NSF-Library of Congress grantu o Zachování objektů na videu a kontextu: demonstračního projektu, který vyvinul strategie pro sběr a uchování kontextu digitálního videa.

• PI pro více grantů z  National Science Foundation's Digital Government Program který se zaměřuje na pomoc lidem najít a pochopit státní statistická data, Integration of Data and Interfaces to Enhance Human Understanding of Government Statistics: Toward the National Statistical Knowledge Network.

• PI pro U.S. Department of Education Challenge Grant project, the Baltimore Learning Community.
