Peter Willett (narozený 20. 4. 1953) je profesorem Informační vědy na Univerzitě v Sheffieldu, Anglie. Je především známý pro výzkum v chemoinformatice a jeho vědeckou kariéru. [2]

 

ŽIVOT

V roce 1975 získal titul MA v přírodních vědách, konkrétně v oboru chemie na Oxfordské univerzitě. Poté vystudoval knihovnictví a informační vědu na univerzitě v Sheffieldu, kde získal titul MSc v oboru informační vědy (1976). Poté dokončil doktorské studium s titulem PhD (1979) na téže univerzitě a začal přednášet. V roce 1997 obdržel titul DSc v oboru informační věda.

1976 MSc postgraduální škola knihovnictví a IV na uni v Sheffieldu;

DÍLO

Peter Willett se výzkumným zájmem soustřeďuje primárně na vývoj nových technologiích pro řadu důležitých aplikaci v chemoinformatice, ale také přispívá pro oblasti zabývající se vyhledáváním informací a čím dál více také bibliometrii.

Spousta algoritmů, které byli vytvořeny v jeho výzkumných skupinách, jsou zakotveny v softwaru pro chemoinformatiku, jenž je využíván po celém světě spolu s GOLD, GASP a GALAHAD programy pro ligand-proteinové vázání a farmakofor (abstraktní popis molekulární struktury, která je zodpovědná za interakce a rozpoznání ligandů) a jsou široce rozšiřovány na obchodních základech.

Peter Willett napsal více jak 500 článků, knih, kapitol a zpráv, které mu dosáhly 34280 citací v Google Scholar (h-index 84). [4] Byl oceněn více jak 80 výzkumnými granty a kontrakty přes hodnotu 6M £.
