Michael Buckland se narodil a vyrostl v Anglii. Jeho první praktická zkušenost s knihovnou byla jako praktikant v Bodleian Library na Univerzitě v Oxfordu po dokončení studií historie na této univerzitě. Profesní kvalifikaci v knihovnictví získal na [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield_Information_Studies University of Sheffield] v roce 1965, následně začal pracovat v knihovně na Lancasterské Univerzitě rok poté co byla založena. Na této univerzitě byl v letech 1967 až 1972 odpovědný za běžné denní povinnosti v knihovní výzkumné skupině (Library Research Unit) kde byla provedea řada studií týkajících se používání knih, jejich dostupnosti a her pro řízení knihoven. V této době také získal svůj Ph.D. titul.

Život

Michael Buckland se narodil a vyrostl v Anglii.
