==Charakteristiky==&lt;br /&gt;
Příslušníci generace Z jsou první, kdo se narodili do digitálního světa, do téže doby, v jaké se začal rozvíjet World Wide Web a dnešní podoba internetu. Od dětství se pohybují v prostředí bezdrátových sítí, osobních počítačů, notebooků, iPodů, přehrávačů mp3, mobilních telefonů, počítačových a video her atd. Sociální sítě (MySpace, Twitter, Facebook a další) a instant messaging splňuje jejich potřebu být online - komunikovat a sdílet obsahy virtuálně v reálném čase. Používají současně jednak více hardwaru, jednak více softwarových aplikací na jednom zařízení, stejně jako nejrůznějších zdrojů informací.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Internet však používají živelně, mnohem dříve než projdou jakoukoli formální přípravou, mnohdy jako jediný zdroj informací, bez znalosti sofistikovanějších vyhledávacích strategií a kritického hodnocení obsahu. Podle standardů American Library Association (Information literacy standards for student learning) není tato internetová generace informačně gramotná.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;GECK, Caroline. Oproti předchozím generacím generace Z technologie nejvíce využívá, ale je také technologiemi nejvíce ohrožena – např. závislostmi na internetových aplikacích, online útočníky apod. Přístup k technologiím přináší této generaci jak pozitiva tak negativa, nepochybně však jedinci bez přístupu k novým médiím jsou ve společnosti znevýhodněni.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Protože velká část generace Z ještě nedosáhla dospělosti, odborníci jsou opatrní v odhadech jejich životních aspirací. Hovoří o faktorech, které by mohly ovlivnit jejich životy. Generace Z (ve srovnání s předchozími) se narodila starším matkám, do menších rodin, je zahrnuta horlivou péčí ambiciózních rodičů. Nemusela by tak mít problém s autoritami a adaptabilitou (New Silent Generation). Samozřejmost sdílení a komunikace by mohla být příčinou vyšší míry kooperativnosti a méně sebeprosazování. Pesimističtější scénáře vidí totéž jako problém hledání své profesní role mezi „lídrovstvím“ a týmovou prací. Optimisté vidí generaci Z jako méně materialistickou, sociálně spravedlivější, vzdělanou, technologicky zdatnou a inovativní.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;FROEHLICH&amp;quot;/&amp;gt; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Uvedené charakteristiky generace Z vycházejí ze vztahu jejích příslušníků k informačním technologiím, proto je třeba si uvědomit, že se nebudou vztahovat na jedince narozené sice v odpovídajícím období, patřící však k socioekonomicky znevýhodněným skupinám bez přístupu k technologiím či schopnosti je používat. Jde tedy o lidi žijící v technologicky rozvinutých zemích, respektive bez indispozic vzhledem k technologiím.&lt;br /&gt;
