Zde působil jako děkan od roku 1998 do roku 2006.  Dr. Michael B. Eisenberg se narodil 4. října 1949 v North Bellmore ve státě New York. Se svou ženou Carol má syna Briana Eisenberga, dceru Lauru Robinson a žijí společně v Seattlu.  Své vysokoškolské studium započal v roce 1974 na State University of New York, kde záskal titul BA (Bachelor of Arts), a zde pak také v roce 1973 získal titul MLS (Master of Library Science). Dále studoval obor informační věda na univerzitě v Syracuse a v roce 1981 získal titul CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) a 1986 titul Ph.D (Doctor od Philosophy).  Jakožto známý inovátor, úspěšný podnikatel, uznávaný věděc a pedagog, je také zakladatelem školy informačních studíí na Washingtonské univerzitě, kde od roku 1998 působil jako děkan. Jeho děkanskou pozici ukončil v roce 2006 a dodnes zde pracuje jako profesor. Byl také zakládajícím ředitelem Informačního institutu Syracuse a roku 2008 spolupracoval s Dr. Allisonem na projektu "Information Literacy", jehož cílem bylo zlepšit informační gramotnost a celkové technologické dovednosti lidké populace. 
 

== Dílo ==
Michael Eisenberg se řadí k velmi přínosným autorům i co se týče jeho publikační činnosti. Za svůj dosavadní život sepsal mnoho knih, učebnic a článků, ve kterých se věnuje především informační gramotnosti, samotným informačním technologiím, informačnímu managementu v učení a vyučování a vzdělávání informačních pracovníků.  Zúčastnil se také velkého množství konferencí, přednášek a workshopů, kde o této problematice společně se svými kolegy otevřeně hovoří.  Za jeho stěžejní díla jsou považovány: '''Information Literacy: Essential Skills for the Information Age.''' V této knize M. Eisenberg sleduje dlouhou historii informační gramotnosti. Poukazuje zde na všudypřítomnost informační gramotnosti v celé naší společnosti, podává přesvědčivé důkazy a snaží se pokrýt všechny její aspekty. Nabádá lidi ke kritičnosti. Snaží se je naučit jak a kde nalézt správné informace a jak odfiltrovat informace nepotřebné. Poskytuje také praktické rady, jak informační gramotnost správně vyučovat. '''The Big6 Workshop Handbook: Implementation & Impact''' Tato kniha je praktickým návodem jak pro učitele a studenty informačních oborů, tak pro knihovníky, jak se zdokonalit v informační gramotnosti pomocí přístupu Big6. Je zde detailně popsán tento šestistupňový model, který lze využít při manipulaci s informacemi nebo u rozhodování při řešení problémů. Díky této metodě, která byla vynalezena rou 1987, lze získat přehled o tom, jak smysluplně využívat technologie. Součástí publikace jsou i pracovní listy a praktická cvičení.
