Život

Raya Fidel se narodila 18. ledna 1945 v Izraeli. Studovala na bakalářském stupni na univerzitě v Tel Avivu a pokračovala na Hebrew university v Jeruzalémě, kde získala magisterský titul. Na studia v Izraeli navázala na University of Maryland, kde v roce 1982 získala titul Ph D. V USA pokračovala ve svém akademickém působení na Center for Human-Information Interaction na University of Washington

Dr. Raya Fidel přinesla odborné znalosti v oblasti informačního chování, ukládání a vyhledávání informací a organizace znalostí. Byla jednou z prvních vědkyň v oblasti knihovnictví a informační vědy, která používala kvalitativní metody, kdy tazatel sbírá data v přirozeném prostředí. Dr. Fidel aplikovala rámec Cognitive Work Analysis (analýza kognitivní práce CWA), aby mohla studovat hledávání informací v různých komunitách počínaje studenty střední škol po inženýry, kteří společně pracují na řešení informačních problémů.

Dr. Fidel byla ředitelkou Center for Human-Information Interaction na University of Washington. I zde pracovala na projektech, které měly za cíl lépe porozumět dopadům a využívání bezdrátových aplikací ve vládním sektoru.[1]

  • Kniha krok za krokem představuje přístup k vývoji konceptuálních schémat pro informační systémy, které ještě neexistují a kde dosud nebyl zpracován proces toku informací. Ukazuje jak analyzovat data, která se zdají na první pohled chaotická a neorganizovaná, tak abychom dostali kvalitně strukturovaná a užitečná data: tzv. datový slovníček. Za použití ER diagramu ukazuje podrobný postup pro integraci jednotlivých částí nebo jednotlivých databází do uceleného (konzistentního) systému. U přípravy dat ukazuje jak vytvořit systém pravidel, který určuje jednotlivé položky, tak aby byl vyřešen konflikt mezi daty, který může vzniknou mezi daty, které se objevují v reálném světě a tady, která jsou uložena v databázi. Kniha také představuje kritéria pro vyhodnocení databázového schématu. [5]

  • Human information interaction (HII) je nově vznikající oblast studia, která zkoumá jak lidé pracují s informacemi. Human information behavior (HIB) je aktivní a nově vzkvétající disciplínou, která je součástí HII (je podkapitolou). Navzdory zjevnému významu pro návrh informačních systémů však tyto oblasti neměly doposud téměř žádný vliv na návrh systémů. Jedním z problémů může být složitosti lidské interakce s informacemi. Dalším může být obtížnost „přeložení“ skutečného světa a nestrukturované HII do formální a lineární struktury, která je nezbytná pro návrh systému. V této knize navrhuje Raya Fidel výzkumný přístup, který propojí studium lidské interakce s informacemi a design informačních systémů. Tento přístup nazýváme analýza kognitivní práce (CWA). Tato analýza byla vytvořena Jensem Rasmussnem a jeho spolupracovníky (odkaz). Poskytuje koncepční rámec a analytické nástroje, které mohou být využity k analýze konstrukčních požadavků. CWA nabízí ekologický přístup k návrhu a analýze sil v prostředí, které ovlivňuje interakci člověka a informací.
  • Fidel představuje výzkum v oblasti HIB a zaměřuje se na jeho přínos pro návrh systémů a představuje analýzu kognitivní spolupráce. Ukazuje, že CWA spolu s ekologických přístupem může být použita k překonání problémů spojených s návrhem a vede k vývoji efektivních systémů. Výzkumní pracovníci a designéři, kteří používají CWA mohou zvýšit rozmanitost svých analytických nástrojů tak, že jim poskytnou alternativní přístup pro plánování výzkumu a návrhu projektů. Rámec CWA umožňuje spolupráci mezi návrhem a HII, která pomůže vytvořit informační systém na míru lidským potřebám. [6]

  • Cognitive Work Analysis je koncepční rámec, který umožňuje analyzovat síly, které ovlivňují vzájemnou interakci mezi lidmi a informacemi. Tato analýza můžete být přímo přetransformována k návrhu požadavků na informační systém. Tento přístup je zaměřený spíše na práci, než na uživatele, protože zkoumá omezení a cíle, které ovlivňují chování na pracovišti, bez ohledu na zainteresované (konkrétní) osoby. V rámci holistického přístupu zkoumá současně více aspektů: environmentální, organizační, sociální, aktivitu a jednotlivce. Výsledkem je, že použití tohoto rámce vyžaduje multidisciplinární přístup. Poskytuje šablony a koncepty, které usnadňují analýzu složitých jevů, aniž by snižovaly jejich složitost. Jako rámec je strukturou, která přizpůsobuje jakoukoli relevantní teorii, model nebo metodu. Analýza kognitivní práce (CWA) se ukázala být účinným přístupem ke studiu lidského informačního chování (HII) za účelem návrhu informačních systémů [7]
